Interview with Keiko Akatsuka : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Keiko Akatsuka : I designed this product with idea how people can feel power from Moon, space, and mineral resources. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Keiko Akatsuka : Strength, catchy and unique against other bath salt products. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Keiko Akatsuka : Expanding the market of this product over the other countries and world where has different cultures. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Keiko Akatsuka : Idea came up kind of quick. So maybe 2 weeks or so. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Keiko Akatsuka : Actually it is commissioned. But my client let me free to design with my inspiration. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Keiko Akatsuka : Yes, I just designed for this product. So my client is producing and putting into market in near future. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Keiko Akatsuka : No, just by myself. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Keiko Akatsuka : All ages between younger and adults. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Keiko Akatsuka : I think my concept is quite new. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Keiko Akatsuka : SUMO is existed already as a brand name, and SUMO means ''Super Monument''. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Keiko Akatsuka : Adobe Illustrator .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Keiko Akatsuka : Logo and also linked to the design, used special Japanese traditional paper and unique printing technique. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Keiko Akatsuka : No, but I always discussed with my client and printing company. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Keiko Akatsuka : No, my original. .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. Keiko Akatsuka : Again, I focused to design this unique and catchy for customers. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Keiko Akatsuka : My respected designer was a winner in past competition, that made me to challenge for an international design competition. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Keiko Akatsuka : Especially, printing technique. I learned many type of printing ways. .
